If not the bell ringer themselves then the motor pulls the bell - right before the clapper hits it - into the opposite direction. This causes the clapper to strike the bell twice as often. That's very joyous imho.

I was baptised in the Maronite rite in Australia 2 years ago. I love our church, our liturgy and traditions. I cannot imagine life with my beloved Maronite church - my Ark and my refuge from the evils of the world.

I am recognized as Lebanese or Syrian by strangers sometimes. They are surprised when I tell them I don't know anything about my heritage but I recently discovered who my ancestors were. I have a Lebanese great great grandfather that married a Syrian great great grandmother. They moved to America and were Catholics. What I don't understand is why our family has her last name and not his last name. That confuses me.
